In particular, these are infectious diseases that occur in the fall (about 100,000 people per year) in Southeast Asia including China. These are also diseases that cause more than 10 million people worldwide every year.

Because the clinical symptoms and dynamics are similar, it is difficult to distinguish the diagnosis. If it cannot be diagnosed early, it may progress aggressively to acute state or cause death. It is very important to diagnose them in early stage because each disease has different treatment methods.

Dengue fever and dengue haemorrhagic fever are the most common high-risk infections in the world every year. In Korea, most of the infected people are infected from abroad. However, as mosquitoes are found in Jeju Island, there is also our concern about domestic infection. The Dengue Rapid Diagnostic Kit, which has been developed to date, has a high sensitivity and specificity.

No diagnostic kits have been used widely in the world for dengue hemorrhagic fever, which has been increasing due to climate warming and the expansion of intercultural exchanges.

We have also been developing detection kits that can detect potentially toxic organophosphate nerve agents (Sarin, Soman and VX) that can be used for large-scale chemical warfare and chemical terrorism in addition to infectious diseases. Some detection kits have been developed to detect nerve agents exposed to the environment, but it is the world’s first to have a detection kit that can detect nerve agents exposed in the living body.
